Planning your alterations can feel overwhelming—but we’re here to make it easy. Below, you’ll find answers to our most frequently asked questions about bridal alterations, wedding gown tailoring, and mother of the bride alterations at Bustle & Hem, proudly serving Fort Worth, Arlington, and North Richland Hills.
How far in advance should I schedule my bridal alterations?
We recommend scheduling your bridal alterations 8–12 weeks before your wedding. This ensures plenty of time for fittings, adjustments, and customizations without stress.
How many fittings will I need?
Most brides need two to three fittings. However, more may be needed for extensive customizations or significant changes in body shape, undergarments, or shoe choice.
Do you offer alterations for mother of the bride or special occasion gowns?
Yes! Bustle & Hem specializes in mother of the bride alterations, evening wear, and formal gown tailoring. Whether it’s adjusting the fit or reimagining the silhouette, our team ensures every detail is just right.
What’s included in the bridal alterations process?
Each bride receives a full consultation, expert fittings with a professional seamstress, and concierge-style support from your dedicated stylist. We specialize in hemming, bodice adjustments, custom sleeves, bustles, and more.
Can I store my gown with you?
Absolutely. We offer secure gown storage at Bliss Bridal Salon before and after alterations to keep your dress protected, pressed, and ready for the big day.
What if I purchased my gown elsewhere?

What to Bring to Your Wedding Dress Fitting:
A Seamstress-Approved Checklist
1. Your Wedding Dress 👗- This one’s a given, but it’s always at the top of the list! Whether you're having your gown steamed and stored with us or bringing it from another boutique, your dress needs to be present at each fitting for accurate alterations.
2. The Shoes You Plan to Wear 👠- Heel height plays a huge role in the length of your gown. Bring the exact shoes you plan to wear on your wedding day—whether they're stilettos or sparkly sneakers—so your bridal gown alterations are perfectly tailored.
3. Your Wedding Undergarments - planning to wear shapewear, a longline bra, or go braless? Your undergarments affect how your dress hugs your curves. Having them on during your fitting allows our experienced seamstresses to ensure your gown fits like a dream. Not sure if you need any? Not a problem at all - just come to your first fitting and we can walk you through it and even have some options on hand to try on!
